Draft Orders

What is a Draft order?

A draft order is any order that is placed by a merchant on behalf of a customer/client and it’ll be automatically created on Shopify with all the customer details.

How to Place a Draft Order?
Open the Draft Order tab from the Order Management Module in Ginkgo.

In the "Draft Order" option, a new page will be displayed in a format similar to this.

Here you can create a draft order due to any of the following reasons:

  • The customer has cancelled an order and he/she wants to re-order.

  • Order created on behalf of your customer.

Draft order can contain the following information:

  1. One or More Products: This refers to the items that a customer intends to purchase. An order can include multiple line items, each with its own details such as name, description, quantity, and price.

  2. Discount on Individual Item or Whole Order: This indicates whether any price reduction applies to either specific items within the order or the entire order as a whole. Discounts can vary based on the product or the order's total value.

  3. Customer Details: The individual or entity placing the order. Their contact information, shipping address, and payment details are usually associated with the customer profile to facilitate successful order processing.

  4. Shipping Rates: These are the charges associated with delivering the ordered products to the customer's specified address. Shipping rates can depend on factors like distance, shipping method, and package weight.

  5. Tags: Tags are labels or keywords that can be assigned to an order, depending on the brand's requirements. They can help categorize orders, making it easier to track and manage them based on specific criteria. Ginkgo creates customized tags for their clients.

  6. Additional Notes: This section allows the customer or the seller to include any special instructions, comments, or information relevant to the order. It can be used to communicate specific delivery instructions within organization communication or other preferences.

  7. Payment Method: This is the way the customer chooses to pay for the order. Payment methods can include credit/debit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, or other accepted forms of payment.

You can further save the order as a draft, so you can update it later from the Draft order page. For this, you can enter details and apply the Save Draft option.
